A new mobile App called “Off to Jail” automatically sends a text message to  your bail bondsman, attorney and any friends or family you select and alerts them about your arrests and your whereabouts.

The idea came from an arrest where the police officer would not allow the citizen to contact their attorney or family citing the Patriot Act.  Obviously, this would be a horrible situation for anyone.

The app allows you to preset those whom you want to contact in the event of an arrest.  All the user has to do is press a button on the app and it will push out a text message to those recipients with the current location.

I think it is a great idea.  The quicker you get an attorney involved the better it is for your case.  Also letting your family and loved ones know about what is going on relieves undue stress and hardship.
